►KATMAI NATIONAL PARK
When most people envision Katmai, they think of bears. Katmai is one of the premier brown bear viewing areas in the world. About 2,200 brown bears are estimated to inhabit the park, and more bears than people are estimated to live on Alaska Peninsula. As many bear populations around the world decline, Katmai provides some of the few remaining unaltered habitats for these amazing creatures. At Katmai, scientists are able to study bears in their natural habitat, visitors are able to enjoy unparalleled viewing opportunities, and the bears are able to continue their life cycle largely undisturbed.

Hallo Bay - on the Pacific Coast of Katmai provides only guided bear viewing and photo trips. Their naturalist guides live and work in a high bear concentration area from May to October and they are very aware of where the bears are and what they are doing at any given time.

The world famous bear viewing at Brooks Falls is only a short walk from Katmailand's Brooks Lodge. As many as fifty bears live along the mile and a half long Brooks River during the salmon season. Many visitors see bears within minutes of their arrival.

►KODIAK ISLAND
Bear-viewing is, indeed, one of the most popular activities on Kodiak Island. The best time to see a Kodiak bear is during July, August and September and the best way to do so is in the company of a knowledgeable guide.  Most local air taxis offer half-day viewing trips.  Multi-day bear viewing adventures can be booked with remote lodges. Some boat charters and kayak outfitters specialize in bear and wildlife viewing.  Special use cabins can be reserved through the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge office and through the Alaska State Parks office in Kodiak.  In 2012, the Kodiak Brown Bear Center opened on Karluk Lake, in the heart of the 1.9 million acres of the Kodiak Wildlife Refuge

►LAKE CLARK NATIONAL PARK
Lake Clark is one of Alaska’s premier sites for viewing coastal brown bears in their natural habitat. Travelers enjoy observing these magnificent mammals as they forage in the local meadows for sedge grasses, dig for razor clams at low tide, or chase salmon returning to their native streams. The coastal areas are home to a subset of local bears, most of which are mothers with cubs and juveniles, although you do see the larger males during breeding season and other times. It is not unusual for people to watch bears from the deck of their accommodation, as the free-ranging omnivores wander in and out of the premises.

The lodge has developed into one of the premier sites in Alaska to view Brown Bears in their natural habitat. Our guides are assisting guests in getting properly positioned for excellent viewing, understand behavioral nuances and gain key information about bear biology.

►DENALI NATIONAL PARK
Denali is home to 300 to 350 grizzlies on the north side of the Alaska Range and an undetermined number on the roadless, undeveloped south side. The south side has some salmon streams and may support more bears than the relatively bleak north side. Most visitors see the bears by riding on shuttle or other tour buses along the park's single road into the back country, a 95-mile wildlife observation adventure of mostly gravel road that slips across valleys and along cliffs to Wonder Lake and then Kantishna. Because human interaction is kept to a minimum, the bears are still the king of the open tundra and wander curiously and unafraid across the land and sometimes up to the buses.

►SOUTHEAST ALASKA
Admiralty Island in Southeast Alaska is home to over 1,600 brown bears - approximately one bear per square mile. The Pack Creek Bear Sanctuary, on the eastern shore of Admiralty Island provide visitors an unprecedented opportunity to view and photograph bears close-up. Admiralty is also known to the Tlingit as Xootsnoowú, which is sometimes interpreted as "Fortress of the Bear(s)". Observe brown bears in their natural habitat at Pack Creek as they fish for salmon and interact with one another during the summer months. Enter the world of the great brown bears, just a short 30 minute float plane ride from Juneau, Alaska.

Brown bear viewing is one of Alaska's greatest wildlife experiences, and Juneau is the perfect basecamp to launch your adventure. Just 20 min away by floatplane is the Admiralty Island National Monument and the Pack Creek Bear Sanctuary.

►KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK | PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND
The array and adaptability of Kenai Fjord’s creatures is astounding. Depending on the time of year, Kenai Fjords National Park plays host to three different species of whale.In addition to some outstanding whale watching, you may observe Steller sea lions, sea otters, Dall's porpoises and more on the marine wildlife and glacier cruise. Bald eagles and puffins represent some of the most charismatic examples of the myriad of birdlife that call the park home; some 18 different species of seabird flock to the Kenai Fjords to nest each year, resulting in a vibrant population of over 50,000 birds.

In addition to whale watching, look out for Steller sea lions, sea otters, Dall's porpoises and more on the marine wildlife and glacier cruise. Bald eagles and puffins represent some of the most charismatic examples of the myriad of birdlife that call the park home.

Resident marine mammals include humpback, sei, fin, minke, and killer whales as well as Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters, all of which reach some of their greatest numbers in Prince William Sound. Brown bears roam lowlands were salmon are spawning.
